a little something About me
My name is Sharon Culek
I am a British artist living in the beautiful city of Prague.
Travelling is an obsession of mine and the search for beautiful things, sketching and delighting in them is the spice in life that I love the most. The recreation once returning home is where I get to revisit memories and combine the attractions with my paintbrushes.
I fell in love with Japan. I couldn't help it. You will see a slight connection to this in my artworks.

welcome
It is lovely to see you here.
You are most welcome to view my collections. I am a creative artist who draws inspiration from life, travel and photography. I find myself paying attention to smaller, unexpected details that are sometimes overlooked. I trap their image inside my paintings to share with you.
I do take pleasure in seeing nature and noticing the beauty in all things. You will find cheerful interpretations in my Fuji-san series.
The Abstract collections are intuitive paintings which lend themselves to themes of symbolism, colour and pattern.
NEXT year:
Choose from a range of paintings to purchase prints and merchandise via a 'Print on Demand' shop from around the world.
...and the long awaited revival of alphabet illustrations may interest the younger audience or for those looking to create a bespoke, original design for a specific occasion.
Commissions are most welcomed.
Send me an email so we can connect to discuss your ideas.

artistic travels

By being inspired by revisiting travel sketchbooks and photographs that share a fleeting glimpse into windows of other worlds, I have taken an approach to represent theses memories in a vibrant, colourful, and fun way. Each connected stroke of paint or pencil is a recollection of a past moment in time. Whimsical and bright, enjoy sights of Mount Fuji in an abstracted, alternative way.

Fuji San Series

abstract art
Intuitive images are a meditative way of expression. These paintings are a sample of colour, pattern and repetitive musings of both abstract and floral motifs. I love flowers and colours that combine and blend into one another. Another symbol that appears in many of my works is that of a circle. I think of them as memory balls that pop up like a bubble of joy now and then, a reminder of past memories and complete cycles of a moment captured in time. Exhibition:
Fujisan fixations
2026 tba
POP-UP evening
Initial preparation for the exhibition began many years ago in Japan where I was working as a teacher. Declaring that I would have an exhibition in Prague somewhere in the future way back in 2017 set the scene for many of the artworks exhibited. This promise is finally realised through this event. I hope you liked it.
Mount Fuji
The main subject matter of the series became a little bit of an obsession... Mount Fuji has held a deep fascination for so many. One of the most famous Japanese artists, Hokusai - the famous ukiyo-e artist and printmaker, created a large number of views of Mount Fuji often depicting Japanese life. You may know his very famous work of The Great Wave off Kanagawa. It’s even depicted in an emoji! 🌊
My first inspiration came after visiting the museum in Tokyo. I think it was this place where I realised that more often than not an artist has a fixation or motif that they work on during their lives. In his series of 36 views of Mount Fuji, it was clear to me that a simple reverence for the holy Mountain brought in so many different colours, juxtapositions, angles and perspectives. I wanted to reciprocate that too.
Browse the original pieces of artwork from a British artist living in the Czech Republic based on one of the iconic symbols of Japanese culture, Fujisan, the joy and the connections. All artworks are currently in Prague.
